A City of Unique Education in Hameenlinna Finland

Located in the Lake Vanajavsi region and limited by the Hameenlinna Hill to the south.

The city was founded by the Governor of Sweden, Pre Bahe, in 1639. The mainstay of this tourist attraction is a red brick castle located at Aulanko Park. This castle was built in the late 13th century to secure Swedish power in central Finland. A village was established near Häme Castle to provide services and goods for its residents.

Hameenlinna is also the hometown of the famous Finnish composer, Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) and poet Paavo Cajander (1846-1913).

Here there is a settlement called Vanaja because it is located in the area of ​​Vanajavesi lake where the city has now stood since the Viking Age.

The city of Hameenlina is famous for schools and academies where many famous Finns have studied. Schools, governments and the military have marked Hämeenlinna's life throughout history.

Finland's first railway line opened between Hämeenlinna and Helsinki in 1862. The current Hämeenlinna train station (Rautatieasema in Finland) was built in 1921.

Interesting places that you can visit while in this city are Market Square which is in the city center.

The Lutheran Church in the east of the city, in the front park of this museum is a statue of Paavo Gajander. Also visit the Hammenlinna Historical Museum which is located not far from Hammenlinna National Park.
