The other oldest university in Europe, the University of Salamanca was founded in 1134 given a royal charter in 1218. Located in Salamanca, Spain west of the city of Madrid. Founded by King Alfonso XI to facilitate his people to gain knowledge.
The oldest institution of higher education in Spain, after the University of Palencia was closed. With a thick aura of history where the educational institution Chirstopher Columbus made the case to gain royal support for his expedition in the 15th century.
Salamanca University is ranked between 481-490 in the QS World University Rankings. The number of students is approximately 30,000 students on nine campuses. Until now, the University of Salamanca is still a favorite place for Spanish students who want to study in the fields of humanities and language.
